English

In recent years, a failure to uphold trustworthiness and ethical principles has jeopardized various organizations. Enron, WorldCom, Adelphia, Tyco, Martha Stewart, and Parmalat are examples of companies that engaged in unethical practices. Other ethical lapses have also been reported, contributing significantly to global problems. In Iran, too, a lack of attention to business ethics in organizational management has created major challenges for organizations. Failure by managers and staff at audit firms to adhere to ethical principles can lead to a loss of reputation and, ultimately, the collapse of both the firms and the profession itself. This study aims to examine the impact of dark personality traits, social projection, and moral identity on the judgments of independent auditors. To achieve this objective, data were collected from the relevant statistical population. The results of the hypothesis testing indicate that moral identity has a significant impact on auditors' judgments. Furthermore, the significant influence of moral identity on dark personality traits and social projection was statistically confirmed. However, neither dark personality traits nor social projection act as a mediator or moderator in the relationship between moral identity and auditors' judgments.
