English

The present study aims to examine the effect of organizational commitment on reduced audit quality behavior, emphasizing the mediating role of social loafing among auditors. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive–correlational in terms of methodology. The statistical population consists of auditors employed in the Audit Organization and private audit firms, from which the sample was selected using the convenience sampling method. Research data were collected through a standard questionnaire, and the research hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling (SEM) with LISREL software.
The results of data analysis indicate that organizational commitment has a negative and significant effect on social loafing. Moreover, social loafing has a positive and significant effect on reduced audit quality behavior. In addition, organizational commitment also exerts a direct negative and significant effect on reduced audit quality behavior. The results of the mediation analysis reveal that social loafing plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between organizational commitment and reduced audit quality behavior. The findings of this study may provide useful insights for audit firm managers in enhancing organizational commitment and reducing behaviors that impair audit quality.
