English

Abstract
1. Objective: Iran’s accounting industry, like other sectors, will be profoundly influenced by technological transformations, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), in the coming decades. The objective of this research is to identify key trends, influential drivers, and pivotal uncertainties concerning the application of responsible and ethical AI within Iran’s accounting profession by the horizon of 2045 (1424 SH).
2. Methodology: This study, with a future-oriented approach and applied nature, employed a mixed-methods research design. Data were collected and analyzed through documentary studies, content analysis of 15 semi-structured interviews, and three rounds of the Delphi method involving 15 experts from the fields of accounting, information technology, professional ethics, and policymaking. The analysis phase utilized tools such as MICMAC analysis, impact-probability matrix, and 2x2 scenario planning.
3. Research Findings: The analysis yielded the identification of 26 key trends and 13 main drivers. Among these, the “Level of Algorithmic Transparency and Governance” and the “Level of Professional Trust and Organizational Adoption of AI” were identified as the most critical pivotal uncertainties. Based on these two uncertainties, four initial scenarios were projected for the future of accounting in Iran: “Flourishing of Intelligent Accounting” (Strong Governance + High Trust), “Sustainable Profession with Cautious Adoption” (Strong Governance + Low Trust), “Digital Trust Recession” (Weak Governance + Low Trust), and “Technological Growth Without Governance” (Weak Governance + High Trust).
