English

The aim of this study is to develop a conceptual framework for whistleblowing in the auditing profession based on the theory of inclusive leadership style. In this research, the impact of inclusive leadership style on whistleblowing is examined by considering the mediating role of the need for autonomy, the need for competence, the need for relatedness, and positive affect. This research is applied in terms of its purpose and descriptive-correlational in terms of its methodological approach. The statistical population consisted of 300 auditors working in private audit institutions, who were examined using an appropriate sampling method. Data were collected through a standard questionnaire and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS software. The results indicated that inclusive leadership style has a positive and significant effect on the need for autonomy, the need for competence, the need for relatedness, and positive affect. Moreover, the need for autonomy, the need for competence, and the need for relatedness have a positive and significant effect on whistleblowing in the auditing profession. However, the direct effect of inclusive leadership style and positive affect on whistleblowing was not significant. The findings indicate that inclusive leadership can pave the way for enhancing auditors' willingness to report misconduct by strengthening the basic psychological needs. Accordingly, the proposed conceptual framework can serve as a foundation for developing policies and managerial practices aimed at fostering a whistleblowing culture in the auditing profession
