Explaining the professional self-efficacy of auditors based on personality dimensions

Abstract
Purpose: In this research, the role of personality dimensions in the professional self-efficacy of auditors is examined. conscientiousness, agreeableness, emotional-thinking and risk-taking have been investigated as personality traits related to auditors' professional self-efficacy.
Method: This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive correlational in terms of data collection method. The statistical population of the research included auditors working in the ranks of senior auditors and above in auditing institutions that are members of the public accountants society, and 380 questionnaires were collected from the available sample. Exploratory factor analysis, correlation coefficient and path analysis were used to analyze the data.
Findings: The research findings showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between work conscientiousness and professional self-efficacy. Despite the positive and significant relationship between approach agreeableness, avoidance agreeableness has an inverse and significant relationship with auditors' professional self-efficacy. The character trait of thinker (as opposed to emotional) had a significant and direct relationship with auditors' professional self-efficacy. In addition, there is a significant and inverse relationship between uncertain risk-taking and auditors' professional self-efficacy.
Conclusion: These findings indicate that personality traits play an important role in auditors' professional self-efficacy. To evaluate the professional self-efficacy of auditors, it is necessary to evaluate the personality characteristics of Persons.
